Thought I share a bit on how I do my artworks. You may notice that most of my artworks have a gradient background but doesn’t have or have very little airbrush leaks. I’ll try my best to guide you the best I can.

There are no airbrush leaks on this, and also managed to draw this quite quickly (will explain)
(If you don’t know what I mean by airbrush leaks, read the last step of guide on what I mean)
I found out how to do this myself without anyone teaching me.
Unrelated: I drew Frchan in a different art style and no clothes, it’s an art style experiment and I kinda like it
Ok now back to the turtorial.
Paint the BG
Guests Disallowed
Paint the BG first. Paint bucket the pawprint with one color and then use an airbrush to add a gradient. You can use two or more colors. I often use 2 or more colors.
Draw the lineart and after that fill inside the lines with a change to tolerance

The base tolerance for the paint bucket (on lower right side of pawprinting drawing program) is 10.
It’ll need to be higher for this to work.
If you are having trouble (either not filling the whole inside or fills too much):
change the tolerance and try to fill it again
(not filling entire inside: higher the tolerance) (overfilling (fills more than inside): lower the tolerance)
without changing the tolerance, try and tap on a different color first (it may take a few tries depending on the size of the other colors)
change the lineart color (then change back after) or try filling the inside with a different color and then fill with the color youre normally gonna use (with regular 10 tolerance)
Fill with one of the colors of the background
Note: if you’re wondering why the drawing and BG are different each time, I am unable to copy and paste Pawprints as I am using a tablet to draw digitally.
Tip

If you are using a dark BG, use lighter color lines

I don’t suggest drawing the character first and then adding the gradient. Unless you like it or don’t mind going through fixing the airbrush leaks on the lineart or don’t mind the airbrush leaks. I likely have done this before in the past before learning about the paint bucket tolerance. If you like this technique, continue what you desire~ everyone do things differently, some people like it some may not be a fan
I hope you learned something new and have fun! I apologize if anything looks confusing.
