Fixes 'n stuff

2025-11-13T01:32:59 | 2 comments

- Added a 'SFW Mode' toggle. It's the shield icon next to the theme toggle on the top of the page. This will quickly switch you to SFW only rating, but you will still be able to receive pawprints of your previous rating. Toggling it off will put you back to your previously selected rating.

- Seen/unseen notifications no longer group together, and have an indicator to tell you if they are seen or not. In order for this to work, I had to adjust how notifications get marked as seen - if it doesn't have a link to something like a pawprint, it will mark as seen as soon as you view your notifications. If it has a button/link, clicking the button will mark it as seen.

- Mobile view should now show messages/notifications on the top.

- Fixed pawzzle merging not working, and it should now combine the drawing time of each tile.

NSFW Pawception Copies and Event Changes

2025-01-26T00:29:06

Copying NSFW Pawception entries to your profile now require you to input at least 3 tags, the same as how it works when you create one on your profile. I will soon add this to NSFW events also.

Entries are no longer shown in the drawing phase to keep them more of a surprise. You will see them / be able to copy them once voting starts!

Submitting a drawing to an event will also now clear your pawprint draft, so it doesn't show up elsewhere. I didn't notice this <.<

Custom colour picker

2025-10-29T00:26:33 | 6 comments

I've implemented a custom colour picker with hex/rgb/hsv sliders that should be the same for all browsers. The eyedropper tool may not work on Safari, but it lets you pick colours from any window on your screen.

Also fixed an issue with fill tool needing two undo clicks to actually undo.

Some More Fixes

2025-01-27T14:02:14

Now that I'm not sleep deprived...
- I fixed pawception pawprints from showing up in the 'user created pawprints' section. This is meant for ones that go on profiles, it'll show up if you copy it. I also fixed prompts not submitting to pawceptions.
- Migrated the events system to use pawprints instead of their own save functions, it should work the same as pawceptions now.
- One pawception submission managed to get deleted as it got set as unconfirmed and the user rejected it. This should not happen. I added a check and recovered it, but if you get the ability to reject a pawception in the future please tell me before doing anything!

Backups, Tool Hotkeys & Other Changes

2025-12-04T00:25:04 | 6 comments

Backups

If you are the artist of a pawprint, you can now go to the settings to download a ZIP file of the pawprint image as well as every layer separately. This allows you to put it into another program later and keep all layers intact. It does not preserve layer filters however, so you will have to re-apply any blur or blending modes. In your user settings under the security tab, you will find a full backup download - this will download into a single zip file every pawprint you've drawn along with all of their layers. Please use this sparingly as it's kinda CPU intensive, especially if you have thousands of pawprints.

Hotkeys

There's a new section in the drawing tab of user settings for customising your drawing hotkeys. You can add hotkeys to tools that never had them before, or change existing ones. Some hotkeys may not work if windows/the browser overrides it, but most do (F5 can even work, it will stop the browser from reloading if you set it as a hotkey!)

Other Changes:

- The Allow Guests option now properly hides your content from guests if you aren't the pawprint owner.
- Advanced Search now has options for minimum paws ups, minimum marks, and allows you to sort by highest paws ups and marks.
- Finished raffles now only show the winners in the entry list to make it easier for the creator.
- Characters can now be highlighted on your profile, the same way pawprints can.
- You can now hide from friends lists in your privacy settings.
- Ironpaw pawprints are now automatically tagged with 'Ironpaw Mode' - and non-ironpaw pawprints will have that tag removed automatically.
- A max of 5 pawprints per hour has been implemented on top of the 10 a day, to try to stop spam.
- Users can now select their gender to show in their profile, if they'd like to.
- Sending pawprints to someone instead of drawing for them directly now correctly awards marks.
- Added titles to postbox entries.
- Replaced the friend request icon with a heart to match the unfriend icon.
- Replaced the baraag link with mastodon so it covers more areas.

Styling and Bug Fixes

2025-01-11T16:22:58

More boring update today. I've made it so clicking on a pawprint will open a little window with a full-size view of it, and some extra information. While doing this I've updated pawprints in general to be consistent everywhere.

Fixed some issues where right-click was not erasing while drawing, re-added missing buttons to highlight and delete pawprints, and added notifications for anonymous and guest pawprints.

You can also now select from latest, random, and top for both pawprints and profiles on the homepage!

New Styling

2025-02-16T21:53:51

Might take a little getting used to, but I took a hammer and chisel to the site's layout and made every page a little more uniform. It's a lil' more evocative of deviantart now and I feel like the navigation is way more user friendly. Some things may be broken, just let me know if you stumble across anything! I also think this version looks a lot better on dark mode than it does on light mode, but that's personal preference.

Fixes

2025-03-02T11:00:00

Please vote on the current event, as all votes got reset out of fairness due to a bug!

- New 'settings' button when viewing any pawprint, this lets you delete and highlight a pawprint from anywhere
- Fixed dark mode stylings for messages and made it so the message box expands vertically so you can actually see what you typed
- The author or owner of a pawprint is now able to set it as SFW/NSFW in the settings
- You can now delete draft pawprints through this
- Fixed the profile followers/following not showing up for you if you are hiding your followers/following
- Fixed sending pawprints to another user when an event/game is unfinished

Editing

2025-02-14T03:31:32

You can now edit pawprints by clicking the 'edit pawprint' button while viewing any pawprint you are the author of. Didn't fill some of the background? you can edit it! Not enough bodily fluids? Add some more! Just look for this button in the lil' pawprint view window:

Event and Profile Changes

2025-01-25T14:10:54

Some kinda boring admin changes, I can now add, edit and delete updates directly from the site! (woah it's the future now). Events should be fairly autonomous, I set up a bunch of events in a row and they should automatically switch between upcoming, drawing, voting and completed phases then move onto the next one.

You can now copy event entries to your profile, just like pawception games. You can do this in any stage, just go into the event page and look for your one!

New Tagging System

2025-11-22T12:56:35 | 2 comments

It's about the time I futureproofed the site by replacing the old, slow tagging system that's been here since the site launched. How it worked previously is that every single tag was stored in a text line on each pawprint, which made searching for tags in pawprints and updating them very slow and processor intensive. If you can imagine, it had to look through each tag string to find a single tag every single time.

Now, tags on pawprints are stored separately. There's a simple link to which tag is being used and which pawprint it belongs to. Renaming a tag for every pawprint is a matter of just changing the name, as everything is done by IDs now.

Some stuff may have broken. I've done a lot of testing myself, but if anyone notices anything please comment here or submit a bug report.

Pawzzle Management

2025-09-25T07:22:58

Creators of pawzzles can now remove the drawn content of any tile or even a claim by other users. This won't delete the drawn stuff outright, it'll send it to their profile so it becomes just a normal pawprint. You can also do this to your own tiles even if you're not the creator, so you can give up your tile claims if you don't want to finish it.

Bug Fixes:

- Fixed the notifications page not correctly deleting individual notifications.
- Fixed pawzzles allowing people to claim multiple tiles but not finish any of them.
- Fixed certain features showing up when editing an event pawprint when they're supposed to be disabled.
- Updated discord notifications to show sfw, mature and adult pawprints that don't have specific tags discord doesn't like.

Tag Database

2025-11-21T13:37:29 | 6 comments

This is a little experimental so some stuff might not work, but I decided to make tags a bit more like e621 - you can see the full database and suggest changes (if it needs aliases, a parent etc), which staff can then approve or deny. It also shows all undefined tags that will need to be sorted at some point! https://pawprint.ing/tags

Suggestions Batch

2025-11-15T09:33:00 | 8 comments

- Added the ability to hide your own suggestions when browsing the list of suggestions.
- You can now delete your own suggestions, until they are accepted/rejected.
- There's now a jitter setting for the spray tool, letting you increase/decrease its radius.
- Raised pawprint description limits to 1000 characters.
- Raffles can now offer +1 entry for a pawprint drawn for the raffle creator. It must remain visible and won't count unless its accepted (if the artist has auto-confirm off), if it gets hidden/deleted the entry is removed.
- Raffles now show the creator how many entries each user has.
- Avatars now keep their source pawprint when set, and clicking on an avatar in a profile will open a window showing who made it and link to the original pawprint it came from.
- Styling update for a lot of the site, removed rounded edges where they weren't needed, made spacing a bit more consistent.

More Suggestions

2025-11-10T00:22:29 | 6 comments

Settings
- User-set notes for others to read when drawing have been increased to 300 characters from 200. This is supposed to be short so I'm not comfortable increasing it too much.
- New notification setting for pawception-related notifications.
- New 'browsing' section under the visibility tab. You can enable text only pawprints on the homepage as well as change the minimum drawing time required for a pawprint to show up there.
- Fixed an issue where dark mode would reset when saving settings.
- New tab for stats, showing all recorded stats for your account.
- New tab for avatar history, letting you see and use old avatars.

Reports
- You can now send reports anonymously.

Homepage
- Latest pawprints on the homepage will now only show ones that took at least 10 minutes to draw, in an effort to filter out some spam.

Pawprints
- Rating dropdown now doesn't show ratings above what the viewer can see, you also will not be able to send a pawprint that has a rating higher than their maximum.
- You can now send tag suggestions anonymously.
- Fixed an issue where hotkeys stopped working after messing with the settings panel.

Raffles
- Raffles are now shown to everyone regardless of content rating.
- Content rating of a raffle is a 'maximum' not what must be drawn.

Notifications
- Notifications group together where they can to reduce spam.
- A lot of notifications have been fixed to correctly say display names.
- A new notification is sent to followers when a pawception is created.
- Fixed an issue with the notifications page breaking when there is no author on a pawprint.

Pawzzles
- Pawzzle tile claims now expire after 24 hours, to stop people holding on to them forever.
- Pawzzles no longer automatically finish once every tile has been drawn, the creator must press a button to confirm it, giving everyone time to fix stuff or finish sketches.

Followers, Settings and Confirmations

2025-01-17T23:56:08

Added a very basic followers system that will be added to later - you can pretty much only follow other users and get notifications for being followed right now. I've added tabs to the profile to show your followers and people who follow you.

While testing this I noticed that the notifications from followers might get a bit spammy, so now there's several options to fine tune your notifications in your profile settings.

Some more styling improvements - before, the code for the drawing canvas in your profile and from the widget were separate. They're both using the same code now so I don't have to update two things if I change or add anything to the drawing system.

When sending a pawprint it now displays a preview window with the image you're gonna send and a final yes/no prompt. This is just to aid against accidentally sending a pawprint when you weren't finished or sending a NSFW pawprint as SFW.

Added some extra notes to the pawception game turns to set some ground rules. I don't want people to derail the games, so hopefully this will ensure that.

On the subject of pawception, I've now fully hidden incomplete games that you've participated in from even showing up on the homepage or pawception games list. Now you should only be able to see finished games and ones you haven't yet joined in on!

Also added a reports page accessible from the navigation bar at the top, where you can submit bugs, disallowed content reports, or even suggestions for new things to add to the site!

Finally, hopefully fixed a bug where pawception turns could be submitted simultaneously. Please let me know if something broke.

Looking for Tag Janitors

2025-02-13T04:06:00

Looking for janitors to help tag pawprints and manage NSFW/SFW status. The role is for active users who are familiar with tagging and willing to adjust posts as needed. Janitors should avoid joke tags and respect NSFW definitions (only explicit content counts). You'll get a broom icon next to your name to indicate your role as a Janitor.

Message me here or on Discord if you're interested! I'd like people to go through and tag pawprints with no tags or few tags with anything relevant, SFW or NSFW, just to help people find what they want by searching.

Levels and Recent Colours

2025-01-16T18:41:17

Several styling improvements including moving the username editor to the profile settings window, and hiding the initial prompt from pawception games until it's completed. I've also changed up the colour picker in the drawing canvases to also include the last 5 used colours - this saves locally so your colours don't get reset every time you open the editor.

I added a very basic levelling system; profiles now have levels and you gain XP from various tasks on the site. Badges, pawprints, participating in pawception, referring users etc. all award XP. Right now all it does is give you a fancy badge next to your username in certain places.

Oh, and I changed the updates page to this.. I think having it actually written out feels more personal and way less corporate. We also don't need to know every single little bug fix, y'know? It makes it easier for me also.

Warnings & Return To Sender

2025-03-08T13:18:56

Janitors, mods and admins now have the ability to warn users for rule breaks (they should've had this ages ago tbh). If you receive a warning, it doesn't mean you're gonna be banned, you just won't be able to use the site until you acknowledge it.

Deleting a pawprint made by someone else will first send it back to the author instead of outright deleting it, if the author then deletes it themselves it will be deleted for real.

Furdle

2025-11-01T05:32:21 | 13 comments

Got bored so I made a furry clone of Wordle. If you've never played it, there's a random 5-letter word you have 6 chances to guess every day. Orange means you got the right letter in the wrong place, green means right letter in the right place. Check it out here: https://pawprint.ing/furdle

For janitors - we can add new 5 letter words in the janitor/admin panels. Try to aim for 'real' words that someone could reasonably guess :3
