Badge Overhaul

2026-01-25T18:18:24 | 9 comments

I rewrote how badges work almost entirely - now each one has a level (and I can set different icons for each level), meaning instead of having several badges that are related to eachother, for example 'Draw 10 Pawprints' and 'Draw 20 Pawprints', they're now all levels of the same badge. You will get a notification when a badge upgrades and the XP as well, giving you some extra XP in return for losing the now deleted badges.

It's a lot easier for me to work with this way, and means you can always keep progressing the badges even if there aren't any more to get :3

Better PP Checking and Badge Stuff

2025-01-26T15:36:33

For some reason when people highlight their pp's and put it on display to everyone, people that didn't wanna see it still could, so your pp is no longer shown to everyone if it has blocked tags. People that don't want to see such pp's will not see the pp.

I made it so mods/admins can make badges directly from the site, also added two new badges - one for getting a first place win in an event, and one for participating in at least 5 different events.

Settings & Bug Fixes

2025-10-14T12:04:25

Changed up the user settings page a bit, it's now divided into tabs with some new settings specifically on drawing - you can now selectively disable drafts, layers, layer filters, and set defaults for new pawprints if you'd like all of them to be friends only for example. You can also easily enable/disable all notification settings.

I fixed an issue with profile journals not loading, and re-added the ability to pan with the space bar.

Updates

2025-02-05T22:05:33

- Put all actions for pawprints on your profile in their own little menu instead of having a ton of buttons on every pawprint.
- You can now send a pawprint from your profile to anyone else's, this is helpful if something was accidentally drawn for the wrong user or you just want to save to your profile before sending it to someone for real. The user it's sent to will have to manually confirm it. The profile that any pawprint is on can be changed with this, if you have any of your own pawprints you'd like to send to other people.
- Fixed the completed page for events being way too bright on dark mode.
- Fixed some other dark mode-related issues with various pages.

Pawprint Update

2025-09-28T06:45:33 | 2 comments

- Panels on pawprints (that's the tool bar, sliders bar, and now the colour bar) can now be moved around by dragging the top of them. The X to close buttons have been removed, and the buttons that used to open them again are toggles instead. I think this is a lot easier to work with - similar to how an actual drawing program would let you re-arrange the interface.
- Login/registration has been updated, it's now a pop-up window instead of a separate page.
- Fixed avatars not setting properly, they were still trying to look for a rating for some reason, even though only SFW ones are allowed.
- Fixed marking not working.
- Fixed account deletions again, removing guides/updates broke it a lil.
- Fixed general not counting as setting a rating when drawing pawprints, causing people to have to pick higher ratings.
- Fixed searches not searching for partial tags (e.g. just 'maple' was returning no results because it was missing the '(xen)' part. Now it should work!)
- Updated the header/sidebar to be a bit prettier. It's very subtle, but icons fit better on there now.
- Removed admin updates because I'm using this journal now.
- Removed guides, they weren't really used and I'm trying to cut bloat from the site. Would rather have a few really good and used features than a lot that aren't used and make the site look like a ghost town!

Basic Fill Tool and General Fixes

2025-01-19T21:29:46

It's not perfect (far from it), but there's a basic fill tool available in the drawing canvas. It sometimes leaves anti-aliasing artifacts around lines but they should be much easier to touch up than how people were filling colour before. It might also think two similar-looking colours are the same thing but it's the best I can do for now!

Updated the index pawception game list to have a maximum, and default to 'in progress' games. You can view every single one from the standalone pawception page, but the index is meant just for a summary of the latest things.

Profile followers/following views now have a scroll bar to stop the page becoming unbearably long, and are ordered by most recent follower/followed user.

Hopefully fixed a bug where you can accidentally submit duplicate pawprints (if refreshing or lagging I assume), it now checks to see if you have tried to submit the same image within the last minute.

Easier Parent Selection

2025-09-21T16:51:20

There's now a fancier and easier way to set parents. When drawing pawprints (not in events or pawception games), you can click the big 'parent' box to set a parent from either one of your 20 most recent pawprints, or a direct ID if it's one you drew. Use this to easily group alts together!

Also, a question: is the 'avatar mode' actually needed? Since you can crop any pawprint to be an avatar, I was thinking it'd make it a lot easier to code pawprint drawing if I didn't have to worry about also working on the avatar mode, as it's a little finnicky sometimes.

Some More Fixes

2025-01-27T14:02:14

Now that I'm not sleep deprived...
- I fixed pawception pawprints from showing up in the 'user created pawprints' section. This is meant for ones that go on profiles, it'll show up if you copy it. I also fixed prompts not submitting to pawceptions.
- Migrated the events system to use pawprints instead of their own save functions, it should work the same as pawceptions now.
- One pawception submission managed to get deleted as it got set as unconfirmed and the user rejected it. This should not happen. I added a check and recovered it, but if you get the ability to reject a pawception in the future please tell me before doing anything!

Zoom/Pan Functionality Update

2025-02-06T16:30:17

- There is now a pan tool that lets you move the canvas around. This can also be accessed by holding space while the canvas is focused (e.g. you clicked on it)
- There is a button to reset zoom and pan to default, in case you lose the canvas or want to get it back to how it was originally.
- Fixed hotkeys working from anywhere on the page if the pawprint drawing window is there. You have to focus the canvas to use ctrl+c / ctrl+v or any other of the keyboard shortcuts.

Sessions

2025-02-02T23:57:08

This should be the last time you get logged out. I've moved login sessions to the database, so they're more permanent instead of the volatile filesystem they were on before.

Also, added a robots.txt and sitemap to help search engines find us! :3

Some Fixes

2025-02-17T10:43:27

- You can now search for users by display name instead of only username.
- Fixed the profile scrapbook not showing all pawprints in completed games and events.
- Fixed collection creation styling.
- Added custom error handling so errors are a bit prettier to look at and give way better information for me.

NSFW Pawception Copies and Event Changes

2025-01-26T00:29:06

Copying NSFW Pawception entries to your profile now require you to input at least 3 tags, the same as how it works when you create one on your profile. I will soon add this to NSFW events also.

Entries are no longer shown in the drawing phase to keep them more of a surprise. You will see them / be able to copy them once voting starts!

Submitting a drawing to an event will also now clear your pawprint draft, so it doesn't show up elsewhere. I didn't notice this <.<

Friend System

2025-10-03T00:46:03 | 8 comments

You can now send friend requests to users. With this, pawprints and journals have an option to be friends-only. This is kind of a big system so I'm expecting there's some things I forgot to test, please let me know here if anything isn't working as expected.

You can send a friend request from anyone's profile, with the new button next to the follow button. The recipient will then be able to accept/deny your friend request, you will receive notifications along the way (unless you get denied, no notification is sent in that case).

Features:

- Ability to send, accept, and decline friend requests.
- Ability to disable friend requests on your profile.
- Ability to set journals and pawprints as friends-only, so they can only be viewed by friends.
- Ability to hide your friends list from your profile for anyone that isn't you.
- Blocking will remove any friend status.

Other Changes:

- There are now view counts for pawprints and journals.
- The tags section of a pawprint is a lot more organised now.

Requests

2025-09-10T05:01:27

- Artists can now choose to accept requests from other users, this is a toggle in your profile settings (look for 'allow requests'). If enabled, you and anyone viewing your profile will see a new Requests tab in-between the draw and scrapbook tabs.

- As a visitor, you can leave artists with requests enabled a short message (up to 300 characters), sending them a notification and putting it into an easy to view list. When done, artists can simply delete the request from the tab.

...with this, sending pawprints or comments to specifically request art when it's not related (for example, an artist making a pawprint asking for requests would be fine) is now against the rules. This is simply to stop a lot of the recent spam I've been seeing.

Marks Gifting/Tracking

2026-01-28T18:07:03 | 8 comments

If you click the marks count in the top right (the lil' heart) there's a new page for gifting marks to other users. You can also see a new transaction history with marks - ones coming in and going out, with a new option in the privacy section of your settings page to make them all anonymous in others transaction histories.

In addition: marks are now permanent. You cannot unmark a pawprint once it is marked, to stop any issues occurring where you give away all your marks and then someone unmarks and leaves you in the negatives.

DMs, Tipping, Drafts and Fixes

2025-01-18T21:45:57

Direct messaging system! It's very basic, but somewhat self explanatory. You can find it next to your notifications in the top right. To start a conversation with someone, just click the message button on their profile.

You can now set a PayPal e-mail in your profile settings, which will enable other users to tip you and put their name on your profile in the brand new tips tab! You are able to select from the most common currencies to use for this.

Drawing a pawprint will now save as a local draft until it's cleared or sent. This means, if you draw something and then leave the page (either accidentally or on purpose), it will be restored when you next return. This is volatile and shouldn't be trusted in all cases, I don't know exactly when the draft will clear from your local storage by itself, but it should solve some issues with lost pawprints due to browser problems.

Fixed some issues with the tooltip from badges being cut off underneath the drawing canvas and some avatars not showing up on the homepage... god I hate CORS headers.

The message limit when sending a report has been raised from 100 to 500 characters, 'cus it was a little too short for some complex reports.

Made it so pawceptions in progress once again show up if you've already participated, but they are not clickable and appear slightly transparent. Also fixed an issue where the draft wasn't clearing after submitting a pawception drawing, as it had different code handling it.

Pawceptions also now show a preview, just like other pawprints, so you can confirm you actually want to send it. The styling has been updated too, so it looks prettier on different window sizes & mobile :3

Everyone may have been logged out as I've changed some stuff that might fix some people randomly logging out. Let me know if that's any better now!

Fixed a bug (hopefully) where the last user's avatar you looked at will show up in the avatar editor if you didn't already have one.
