Pawzzles & Bug Fixes

2025-09-23T18:09:14 | 11 comments

I've just launched the beta of the Pawzzle system to complement Pawceptions, another activity you can do on here. They’re basically collaborative mosaic artworks where multiple artists can work together on a shared grid canvas. Imagine a giant puzzle where each “piece” is a drawing made by a different person! Except instead of snapping physical pieces together, we’re building one big picture through everyone’s artwork.

Creating a Pawzzle: On the left sidebar you'll be able to see a new puzzle piece icon. From the pawzzle index, there'll be a 'create pawzzle' button if you do not already have one ongoing. There's a bunch of self-explanatory settings, but the grid size is how big the overall pawzzle will be and how many pawprints are part of it. Once you've created it, you'll have to start it off with one tile so others can build off of it.

Drawing: There's no rotation or parents in pawzzles, but you will be able to see neighbouring pawzzle tiles as you draw - so assuming you're not the first, you will easily be able to connect your art to others.

Check my test pawzzle here to see how they can all connect: https://pawprint.ing/pawzzle/view/4

Bug Fixes:
- Made the adjacent pawzzle tiles while drawing full opacity so you can properly match colours.
- Removed the obnoxious hover effect on everything, it's now only on specific things.
- Added the ability to change your password in user settings.
- Fixed issues with special characters like apostrophes on the search page.
- Fixed drafts loading/saving on pawzzles, also fixing them not being saved properly elsewhere.
- Added more comprehensive checks for muted/blocked users, also adding pawzzles and templates to it.
- Fixed some pawprints not showing the collections list in settings.
- Pawzzles are now ordered oldest uncompleted -> newest uncompleted, then newest completed -> oldest completed. This is so ones in progress don't just get pushed to the back.
- Pawzzles now merge together into one giga-pawprint when completed, and get given to whoever created the pawzzle. This is so it shows up on the homepage and profile gallery as a real pawprint!
- Fixed characters not getting properly filtered out by blocks/mutes.
- Fixed NSFW pawzzles showing up for users who are logged out.
- Fixed pawzzle tiles not loading in tags when editing.
- Notifications now have their own page, and live count changes are back.
- Fixed some things showing up to guests when allow guests is disabled.
- Updated how tags are set for pawprints, now much fancier and harder to mess up!
- Tags now save/load with pawprint drafts.

New Pawprinting Beta

2025-09-22T23:02:33 | 3 comments

I just uploaded the beta of the new drawing window everywhere you could draw pawprints. I recoded a lot of the old awful stuff that's been there since the beginning and tried to modernise it a bit - you can now close/open the tools and sliders, meaning the overall drawing window is much bigger than it was before!

I paid special attention to making it work properly on mobile/smaller devices, but as it's a beta, I'd love to know if anything doesn't work and what you think in general.

Extra Fixes/Changes:
- Made panning smoother. It shouldn't lag behind your mouse when you try to move the canvas around now.

You Spin Me Right Round

2025-09-22T16:12:49 | 6 comments

You're now able to rotate the pawprint canvas using the new 'rotate' tool button! Using this, you can rotate what you're working on by 90 degrees, letting you get better drawing angles, or even create completely vertical pawprints if you need to draw somethin' extra long.

Draft saving should work fine with rotations, and as usual some stuff might be broken that I haven't quite found yet. Let me know if you see anything!

Other updates:

- Adjusted the styling of comments so they should fit more on a page before scrolling is needed. Temporary fix, will look into redoing it entirely later.

- If a character is referenced in a pawprint, the character will be linked in the pawprint view page.

- Fixed shape tools not working for some reason.

Easier Parent Selection

2025-09-21T16:51:20

There's now a fancier and easier way to set parents. When drawing pawprints (not in events or pawception games), you can click the big 'parent' box to set a parent from either one of your 20 most recent pawprints, or a direct ID if it's one you drew. Use this to easily group alts together!

Also, a question: is the 'avatar mode' actually needed? Since you can crop any pawprint to be an avatar, I was thinking it'd make it a lot easier to code pawprint drawing if I didn't have to worry about also working on the avatar mode, as it's a little finnicky sometimes.

- Sped the site up, you may notice some pages are loading a bit faster. Let me know if you see any 'Bad Gateway' errors since this change.

- Fixed recent colours not quite working correctly when drawing.

- Fixed donations, they should work again.

- Darkened the colour of Level 10 as it was a little too bright.

Drafts

2025-09-18T20:10:51 | 8 comments

The problem: Drafts were too volatile. Since they were saved on your PC in browser storage, clearing your cache or looking at it wrong could wipe it, which kinda sucked if your power went out and you lost something you were working on.

The solution: Drafts are now fully server-side, being stored in the database. It may take half a second longer to load/save a draft, but you do get to see a fancy lil' load/save spinner while drawing! This way you will never accidentally lose a WIP draft and it will always be tied to your account, not your computer. If you have an alt account, it won't load drafts from your main account.

Profile Updates

2025-09-18T09:43:39 | 2 comments

I've updated the styling on profiles to be a bit less ugly in places. Also, they should be much faster to load as every tab is a new page instead of every single thing being loaded at once. Profiles were definitely the slowest page on the site, so it's a good start to generally optimising the site better.

I may later allow a profile setting to change your colour to any previously obtained one. It's not high on my list, but it probably will be done eventually ^^

Various Tag Updates

2025-09-17T21:33:03 | 2 comments

Blocked Tags: I added a new setting under the blocked tags on the user settings page. When enabled, you will see SFW pawprints with blocked tags, meaning the blocked tags will only block NSFW content.

Tag Predictions: Tags on pawprint and user settings now has a dropdown of relevant tags, to make it easier to tag the right things.

Name Colours: Starting from level 21, colours have gotten a little more interesting. Users who reach this milestone will be given some fancy gradients instead of just a solid colour!

Levels Page: You can now see the XP required and colour of all the levels here.

Boring Janitor Stuff: Made the janitor tag page a bit faster, since we have well over 22,000 tags now the page was taking far too long to load before.

Homepage Changes

2025-09-17T09:09:55

I noticed some users/potential users were uncomfortable about being so public on the site. Now, to show up on the latest users section of the homepage, you need to have drawn at least one pawprint. This should make things more comfortable for lurkers.

Latest characters on the homepage are also limited to one (the latest) per user, to show more variety to people that may be looking at the site.

I've also removed the last event winners section for now, as it's mostly just been clogging up the homepage and can be seen on the event's page.

Rule Changes

2025-09-16T14:37:42 | 8 comments

Some recent content is no longer exactly just on the fence in UK law. Regardless of the site's location, I as the owner have to follow these to ensure the site's stability, and that means I'm going to have to start disallowing certain types of content. I would like to reiterate this is a furry site first and foremost, as such this rule has been added:

Coroners and Justice Act of April 2009 (c. 2), you may not upload content depicting minors in sexual situations where the minor represents a human child under the age of 18. Sexual situations include nudity, fetishes that may not feature nudity but are created to fulfil fantasies (for example but not limited to: vore, inflation, pregnancy), and explicit sex. This includes photography, drawings, stories, audio or any other medium of content. This rule applies to human characters.

The rule for NSFW tagging has expanded to also include anything that's an obvious fetish/kink (sorry underwear guys). Any content following short of this new rule change has been set to hidden and returned to the original artist to allow artists time to edit them and remove any.. humanity? (if you desire to do so). Any new posted content that breaks this rule will be deleted in the future.

Apologies for the inconvenience, this isn't a personal thing, I would just rather stay on the right side of the law to ensure this site isn't taken down or I get fined for something. There's a reason why InkBunny doesn't allow humans, but I'm trying to keep it as censorship-free as I am legally allowed.

Journals!

2025-09-15T23:17:45

This is the new journal system, similar to InkBunny and FurAffinity. You can write up to 1000 characters with formatting to talk about whatever you want, with the possibility of comments/likes in the future. The updates section of the site will from this point on be my latest journal entry.

Click on the book icon on the sidebar on the left to make a journal entry, there's a pretty self-explanatory journal creation page. This will send a notification to all of your followers with a link to the journal entry, if they have 'notify for journal entries' enabled in their user profile settings. There's also a new tab on every profile with a list of journal entries and a snippet of what the journal contains.

As usual, stuff might break. Let me know if anything does ^^

Various Fixes

2025-09-13T16:31:53

- Re-added counts for likes, marks and comments on pawprints.

- You can no longer send pawprints to a user if it contains any of their blocked tags.

- The blocked tags section of the user settings page has been updated to match how the tags in pawprint settings works.

- Fixed the confirmation status of pawprints sent from one user to another.

- You can now confirm/reject pawprints from the main pawprint page itself, instead of having to go to your profile.

- Comments are now limited to 500 characters max to stop any potential lag.

Templates Beta

2025-09-13T03:10:42

- New templates system. In a pawprints settings, you can set it to be a template. Anyone will then be allowed to copy it! This is a beta, some stuff might not work just yet. Remember, if you set a pawprint to be a template, whenever someone makes something with it, you will not be the artist. Only do this to pawprints you really don't mind giving away the rights to.

- The homepage now has a templates section underneath the pawprints to show the latest templates for people to play with.

- Profile pages have a new templates tab next to the scrapbook.

- You can search specifically for templates now.

User Settings & Search

2025-09-12T12:11:04

- User settings are now on their own page exactly like the new pawprint settings.

- Searching for pawprints no longer takes username/display name into account so someone with 'fox' in their name won't be first for any fox related pawprint searches.

- Fixed some styling issues with the 'load more pawprints' buttons on profile pages.

Pawprint Settings

2025-09-12T03:18:07

- Pawprints now have their own settings page. With this, you can now set a name/title and description for any of your pawprints which will show up on their pages. Rating, tags, parent, collections, etc are now all located on this settings page.

- You can now zoom in/out when cropping for avatars, to make it easier to get the right look!

- Fixed the ability to copy/paste on some mobile devices.

- You can now disable comments on any specific pawprint if you desire to do so, in the pawprint settings.

- Reworked how some buttons look, this isn't final and may be changed later.

Requests

2025-09-10T05:01:27

- Artists can now choose to accept requests from other users, this is a toggle in your profile settings (look for 'allow requests'). If enabled, you and anyone viewing your profile will see a new Requests tab in-between the draw and scrapbook tabs.

- As a visitor, you can leave artists with requests enabled a short message (up to 300 characters), sending them a notification and putting it into an easy to view list. When done, artists can simply delete the request from the tab.

...with this, sending pawprints or comments to specifically request art when it's not related (for example, an artist making a pawprint asking for requests would be fine) is now against the rules. This is simply to stop a lot of the recent spam I've been seeing.

Pawprint Refactor

2025-09-09T16:09:34

- Removed the feed entirely, it was slowing the site down and not entirely needed.

- Optimised profile and scrapbook pawprints to speed up page loading, there's now a 'show more' button instead of all being loaded at once.

- The way pawprints are viewed have changed, they now have their own page similar to e621 and FurAffinity, with a .png download button on each.

- Pawprint authors are now able to set a parent on pawprints, so alts/variants are shown alongside the 'main' pawprint and don't spam. To do this, pick which one you want to be shown as the main pawprint (ideally a SFW one), find its ID in the URL (it'll be a short number, for example 4868), and use the 'set parent' button in every alts settings to set the parent to that number. These ones won't show up in profiles or the homepage, but you can see all of them from the main one along with a handy visible number of alts. You can do this even if the pawprint is on someone else's page, as long as you are the artist. I have organised some already into parent/child relationships on my profile, so you can see how it works.

- Added 'notes' section to the user settings. This will display above the pawprint drawing on your profile, and you can use it to let people know stuff you like and dislike. You can see this in action on my profile!

- (potentially) fixed an issue with anonymous pawprints not being able to be confirmed if auto-confirm is set to off.

- Fixed issues with deleting accounts causing errors.
